CATHERINE
Associate Voice Teacher
Catherine holds a B.M. from Shenandoah Conservatory and a M.M. from UNC Greensboro in Voice Performance. She has loved teaching with Voice by Chelsea for the past two years, and has had many student successes in the realms of musical theatre and singer/songwriting.
Her primary performance areas are opera and contemporary American classical singing; Catherine recently performed in the ensemble of Titanic with NUOVA Vocal Arts in Edmonton, CA, and took on the role of piano repetiteur for A Little Night Music with the same program. Other roles include Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) with La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, IT in 2023, and Nella (Gianni Schicchi) with UNCG Opera Theater. Other roles include covering Brigida (Iolanta), ensemble in many shows including Amahl and the Night Visitors Die Fledermaus,Suor Angelica, and The Merry Widow.
She has won the 2022 Master’s Division in Voice of the Birmingham International Music Competition as well as the 2017 Shenandoah Conservatory Bach-Handel Competition. Her hometown is Springfield, MA, and is currently based out of Spokane, WA; she has recently become the Office and Social Media Manager for the local MusicFest Northwest organization. She aims to use her education in voice science to benefit students of all ages.
Catherine teaches primarily musical theatre, pop, country, and contemporary Christian, but is eagerly welcoming students interested in classical styles as well. Her lessons are uniquely tailored to each student's learning needs and Catherine will work with you to find repertoire that is not only something you love and connect with, but also helps make your voice the best it can be!
