Are you someone who puts the tree up the day after Halloween? Personally, I like to keep all of my holidays separate, but with all of the Christmas commercials, decorations in stores, and holiday movies on tv, it's hard to deny that Christmas is COMING! There's still over a month until Christmas Day, which means you have plenty of time to start reaching your goals and get singin' by Christmas. Here are 5 ways you can get involved with singing by the time Santa makes his way down the chimney!
Join a Local Choir or Start Your Own Caroling Group
Many choirs and community groups rehearse and perform during the holiday season! Look for local groups hosting open auditions or “come-and-sing” events focused on Christmas carols. Not only will you get to sing, but you'll also meet others with a shared passion for music. Alternatively, if you're looking for something more fun and relaxed, organize a caroling group to bring joy to your neighborhood!
Volunteer to Sing at Nursing Homes or Hospitals
Many elderly care facilities and hospitals welcome volunteer singers to spread holiday cheer. Contact local facilities to see if they’re accepting visitors for Christmas caroling or small performances. This can be a deeply rewarding way to share your voice and brighten someone’s holiday season.
Participate in Church or Community Christmas Services
Churches often need additional vocalists for their Christmas services, particularly for events like Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services. Reach out to local churches or community centers to see if they’re looking for volunteers. This is a great way to get involved, get some experience in a choral setting and with reading music, and to spread holiday cheer!
Audition for a Holiday Production
If you're more of an experienced performer (or feeling brave enough to audition), Christmas is a busy season to book gigs and shows! Websites like Backstage, Playbill, and even social media pages are great ways to find audition listings. On most sites, you can filter auditions by location, type, and experience level to find vocal opportunities in your area. If you're just starting out, community theaters also produce holiday shows and are often a great way to get a taste of live theater.
Take Vocal Lessons This Holiday Season
What better way is there to get singing than to take voice lessons? No matter what your goal is, with feedback and guidance from our excellent teachers, you would definitely start to see positive growth and improvement by Christmas! You can work on festive material, polish your skills, and even learn specific techniques for singing carols and harmonies.
If you want to give yourself or someone you love the gift of singing, we have you covered there, too! You can purchase gift cards for a single lesson, or a package of lessons, on our website voicebychelsea.com/gift-cards . And if you need another goal to get you motivated, we have our annual VBC Virtual Holiday Shows coming up December 19th and 20th! These shows are super fun and a less nerve wracking way for our excellent students to share their voice with fellow studio members and to show off all they've learned during the year! Contact us for more details! :)
No matter what drives you, we hope you'll feel confident and free to carol your heart out this holiday season!
