So if your children are anything like me when I was young, that means they're home putting on elaborate performances in the living room and singing the same songs over and over (sorry, Mom). Consider this month's blog your sign to let professionals take over some of the listening, and sign your young singer up for voice lessons this summer!
On the fence?! Consider these powerful reasons to enroll your child in weekly voice lessons!
Creates Discipline and Patience: Like practicing for any sport, weekly dance class, or karate class, mastering the art of singing requires discipline and patience! Regular practice and perseverance are crucial to improving vocal techniques, breath control, and pitch accuracy. Singing lessons instill discipline in children as they commit to a practice routine, set goals, and work towards achieving them. As a reward for their consistent effort and practice, they learn the value of hard work and dedication. These qualities can go beyond singing and positively impact other areas of their lives, like academics and other personal passions!
Boosts Confidence: Singing lessons can serve as a powerful tool for building self-confidence in children. As they learn to control their voice, hit the right notes, and perform in front of others, they gradually develop a sense of self-assurance. They will find it gets easier and easier to share their gifts with others! A supportive teacher and a safe environment, like the safe space in a voice lesson, can encourage children to step out of their comfort zone, overcome stage fright, and be proud of their talents. This newfound confidence extends beyond singing and positively influences various aspects of their lives.
Improves Projection and Speech: Obviously enrolling your child in singing lessons will result in improvements in their abilities as a vocalist, but it also offers a great opportunity to polish their speech abilities! Singing exercises help develop proper breath control, projection, and articulation, leading to improved speech clarity and vocal strength. These skills can have a lasting impact on their communication skills, allowing them to express themselves more effectively in both personal and academic settings.
Promotes Emotional Expression: Music, including singing, is a powerful outlet for emotional expression. Through singing lessons, children can learn to convey various emotions and connect with the lyrics and melodies they perform. Singing allows them to express emotions from joy to sadness, enhancing their emotional intelligence. This ability to express and understand emotions can contribute to healthier relationships, improved empathy, and enhanced overall emotional well-being.
As if those reasons aren't enough to have your child give vocal lessons a try this summer, we have our biannual virtual talent show coming up on August 4th and 5th! In the past, this show has been an awesome reflection of the care, growth and community that happens within weekly lessons and our studio. Students get a chance to perform for their peers and teachers, so there is a ton of support and encouragement (and lots of talent!). We would love to see you there!
